  1. Uncheck and re check play windows startup sound
  2. select apply
  3. select ok
  4. restart the system check to see if  problem is fix

  1. still not working
  2. open device manager
  3. select sound video game controllers
  4. select on your sound driver
  5. right click on Uninstall
  6. restart check to see if the problem is fix

  1. still not working
  2. create a new user account
Create a user account in Windows
  3. check to see if problem is fix

Method 1: That didn't work
Method 2: Still not
Method 3: The startup sound relies on imageres.dll in windows folder and i believe some other registry so that wouldn't work

It was at max volume.

Try plugging in a pair of ear buds and see if you hear sounds through that. Plug into green colored jack.

I guess I'm wrong but many others also said that.

Just to clarify, it is just your startup sound that is not working? You do have sound on everything after startup?

so just to be clear here you are trying to use custom windows 7 sounds ?

Try this fix: if it doesn't work then it could be a hardware issue.

I wouldn't worry too much about non startup sounds as long as every thing else works fine.

Yes, that is the only one not playing.

I used to but after not playing on start up I did a scan and it reverted to the default. Still not working though.

Ok so this is probably weird but every time I initiate a forced restart, the startup sound would play.
