can't boot to windows 7 after a successful installation

While installing Windows be sure to have only one drive connected to the computer. It does not make sense why this should make a difference but worth a shot.

It is a laptop, it only has 1 hard drive.

What size is the USB drive that you're booting the computer up with?

How about trying this Remove averything ( USB drive and all other HDD's ) leave only the internal Hdd ( this should be your C drive ) now use a IOS DVD and now run the windows 7 install from DVD rom you may need to change boot priority in bios or press F10 or F11. Now when you do the install the only hdd that will show up will be you internal one. This may help anything is wearth a try ?

I hope you do get this solved.

If Disk Manager is showing that extra drive then you have more than 1 drive (not necessarily a HDD), did you check for a SD Card installed?

Installed with/Booted up with a 30g USB

We have checked everywhere carefully, there is nothing externally plugged in in relation to any types of cards, hard drives, etc.

We'll have to postpone this chat as my brother has just left to do something important.
