I have become aware of various available options for backing up and restoring the Registry. I am wondering if one can mix/match the various options (e.g. backup from option 1 and use option 2 to restore). Also is one method preferred technically over the others.
The options that I am referring to are:
1. Manual process: Use RegEdit and use File - Export to backup; then Navigate to RegBackup Folder right click appropriate backup and select Merge.
2. UVK - Ultra Virus Killer Utility
3. Tweaking - All-In-One-Repair Utility
4. Tweaking_Registry_Backup Utility: Uses Shadow Copies.
The main question I have; can you use the Shadow Copies method for backup and another method for Restore? Also if you have to use a Rescue Disk for a non-booting computer, does it matter if the Registry Backup used Shadow Copies or one of the other methods?
