Hello,
I've created a System Image file/folder for my C:\ drive.
Full Image backup. Restore & Recovery Windows 7 Ultra.
This folder is named "WindowsImageBackup" by the windows procedure itself.
I didn't give this folder a name.
This folder is on my external Seagate HDD. I repeated this on my external Toshiba HDD as well.
I created a system boot up disc too.
Recently my OS failed to boot up. I got a warning window saying Windows Explorer couldn't boot?
I used the system boot up disc tried repair but nothing worked. In the end I went to re installing using my saved system image.
The system boot up disc procedure looks for an image file on any attached HDD. When it finds the image it asks you to load from it.
Takes a while.
First time my repair procedure didn't find any backed up image file/folder on the external HDD
so I changed external HDD's and tried again.
On my second external HDD it worked. The repair procedure found the file/folder- loaded it and eventually I got my working C:\ drive back
and I could boot up as normal.
What I'd like to know is why one backed up image file was found by the repair procedure on one external HDD but not on another one with the
same saved image on it?
I'm curious about the naming convention too. "WindowsImageBackup" is a long file name. Windows itself can recognize long file names
but if you're repairing a non booting c:\ using the system boot up disc are long file names a problem?
