I am no Linux guru. I am looking for a light version of Linux that boots quick into a live environment that supports writing to a GPT partition. Does such an animal exist?
I would go with Puppy because that would probably boot the fastest
Hmmm been trying Puppy... I'll try the latest version
I have been using the latest version of Puppy in a live environment when doing data recovery/transfers in my shop. Every time I try to transfer data from a drive to another drive that has a GPT partition using the latest version of Puppy I get the error that the destination drive is locked. I can read and pull data from a GPT partition however writing to that partition is not allowed. I have found this issue on numerous occasions.
I can read and write to a NTFS or FAT partition as usual
that may be a little tricky to do but what I am thinking you can try
boot up a windows pe live disk or USB then check to see if you can write data to GPT partition
Hey Tim,
Fabs Pro version should bypass this...

Thanks Larry for the suggestion. I guess the bottom line is that there is no version of Linux that can write to a GPT partition. It won't be long until all of Windows mainstream and consumer computers will be running on a GPT partition.
