You can disable Java in your browser settings.
Malwarebytes Premium blocks a lot of these. Or white list pages you want to run java, its a pain, but that's the way of the world nowadays.

I had a scam which locked my browser with display and audio message to call specific number (forgot what number is) or else you will lose your hard drive. This was on Microsoft Edge. I have two users on my system - one affected and the other not. I went into App Data ==> Local ==> and then deleted all files within the Temp folder. This cleared up the problem. Also realized while doing this is that CCleaner only works on the user id you are signed on to.
Don't know if what I had is the same as yours, but probably no harm deleting all files within the Local Temp folder.

You get a lot of this on social media sites... I just tell people to hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete then reboot....All gone.
