Question
I have pictures to show what's been popping up on my sisters laptop. If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi Michele, Welcome to the forum, it looks like your hard drive is failing and is about to die according to the S.M.A.R.T. feature in the BIOS. Do you have all your data backed up? if you don't, you're going to need to get that data off the drive before the drive dies and then its a option of data recovery, which can cost a lot of money.
HP S.M.A.R.T feature is blocking you from using that drive, once you put that into one of the options above, you will be able to retrieve you data with ease. Its possible you will be able to use that hard disk in a enclosure, but you are at risk of that hard drive failing at any time, so its not really worth the risk. So replace drive, buy option above and retrieve data and destroy. old drive

Hi! My sister says she doesn't need any of the data on her laptop. She just wants to know how to get it up and running again?

Oh yeah, I know how to take it out, but which hard drive do I get? That's the question, lol! And, would I have to buy a new windows as well?

Mechanical drives is what is in your laptop now, these are 750GB and 1TB
Or you can opt for a super fast ssd, this is not the best ssd on the market, but the price point is good and the speed difference will be massive, the only draw back is the amount of space on the drive 480GB if you can live with that, then go for the ssd. It all comes down to hhow much you want to spend that the size of the drive. You can get cheaper mechanical drives with less space if you need it.
Hope this helps you out, you will need a 2.5" hard drive or SSD.
