Computer Hijacking (Net Bios) - RobCharles1981 - 11-14-2014 Hi Guys, I have a friend of mine who lives in the states, and for a good while he keeps getting "Hijacked" The last PC He had was an Alienware Machine. I had posted on various forums to get opinions on how to go about getting this fixed for him and he's even responded in the PCA, and OC3d Forums... https://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/1/tech-helproom/4218291/need-to-help-a-friend-netbios-over-tcp-ip-attacks/?ob=datea&pn=7 https://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19498564?pi21932=2 https://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=52575 I can't honestly figure out how these "attacks" can happen. Upon Speaking with my College who I work with in IT who has a Degree in Network Management And Security he's heard of this "attack" and witnessed it happen in the past. From what he says it's a Bios Hack, Where the Bios Chip gets infected with a Virus or somewhere along those lines. He will confirm that when I next speak and Length. What your experiences on this? Cheers Rob RE: Computer Hijacking (Net Bios) - chriscbd_19 - 01-28-2015 It's against the rules of this website to help with a problem that's been posted on a different forum is probably why no ones helped you yet RE: Computer Hijacking (Net Bios) - RobCharles1981 - 01-28-2015 I don't think it's against the rules, every forum is different some have a "higher level" than others and others don't, it's important to get different points of view on topics on other places. I did contact Brian on this a while ago, so I'm not sure if he's around to offer his input on this topic. RE: Computer Hijacking (Net Bios) - Britec - 01-28-2015 Hi Rob, He might be able to replace the BIOS Chip with a new one if he can't wipe it. Sorry rob RE: Computer Hijacking (Net Bios) - Britec - 01-28-2015 Rob has been around for ages, I don't mind when people that have been following me for a long time like Rob, its the people that just post spam and never come back. RE: Computer Hijacking (Net Bios) - GuiltySpark - 01-28-2015 Hi Rob Have your friend run this DCOMbobulator And also check the ports via ShieldsUp! Although why he hasn't got a router and a decent firewall set up after being a Cisco engineer for many years is a little confusing, I know we all forget things but that's a biggie. Has he flashed the BIOS at all since he's had the computer? Does it happen only with the Alienware machine? |
