i type in that command it said it can't input it so i need to know where i can get a xp boot cd

never mind i think i type in the wrong commend
which is the right one
expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ or expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32
expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32

does the drive letter need to be C in this when i go into windows boot cd
yes because normally windows files would be stored in the C Drive
D: will be the CD and C: will be your windows directory where your coping your file to.
the reason i ask what drive it is because i have 2 hard drives that boot into windows 7
To show all drives in the cmd use the following command:

wmic logicaldisk get deviceid, volumename, description


Then just pick the drive letter with your corrupt file and use that.
im going to take break from that until you can make a video of it
