we have loud strong thunderstorm last night, i don't have surge protector with battery backup, i don't know if we have power blockout at my home or not, how do i check on my computer if it didn't shut down properly?
First thing would be to check Event Viewer and look for any unexpected shutdown errors / messages.

where i can find in event viewer?
Click Start button, in search box type Event Viewer, then click Windows Logs > System > Look for Event ID 6006 (6006 is an event ID for shutdown) check time and date of shutdown.
