make sure you have m$ product key for win7 (is on disk case win7 came in). if it's OEM (original equipment manufacturer) it's on back of laptop or on case of desktop. If you don't have it, magic jellybean or belarc advisor will access that for you. Be advised that my laptop key sticker is unreadable. Majic jellybean and belarc both provided wrong product key. Had to call compaq/hewlett packard and explain situation to obtain correct OEM product key. If you don't have it, Windows Activation to Genuine will not occur. Other than that Repair install is relatively straight forward.

If it is OEM, it is relatively straightforward if you can borrow a Windows DVD, otherwise you have a big problem.
