Hello Britec,

I have WD passport and when i connect it to PC it is not listed on my computer. What can be reason?

see screenshot too, please.

Thanks.
First try and "Change Drive Letter"

Windows 7

  1. Click Start Button > Right click on Computer >Then click Manage
  2. Computer Management window will open > Look in left window pane look for Storage > Disk Management
  3. Look in middle pane window > find your external drive, possibly Disk 2.
  4. Click drive once to select the external drive (it should have diagonal lines) > Right click drive > Select Change Drive Letter and Paths
  5. Now assign a different letter that's not being used, for example: Y
  6. Now check to see if the drive is visible.

Thanks Britec but it did not helped. maybe it is damaged inside. it fall down once Sad
boot Linux see if it will work how hard did it fall
Some WD drives are just faulty, did it work on that computer before?

As Compton suggests try it in Linux to see if it's discovered.
Here is some options to try and consider.
  • Try formatting drive
  • Test drive to see if its bad
  • USB controller board inside the enclosure could of failed
Yeah unfortunately those Passports have a proprietary connection soldered to the pcb of the drive that in in the case. This makes it nearly impossible to troubleshoot by connecting directly to a motherboard. I've just recently sent one off to a professional data recovery center here in the states for a customer.
Thanks for your suggestions all of u. I will try that and will inform you.
