it sounds like you have a malfunctioning a modem

you should report it to them or even better buy your own modem

I think I will do that, I've been wanting to get my own anyway, TY Compton, Tim, Brian & Donald for the explanations

Yes it is a modem / router, with 4 ethernet sockets on the back, Do you mean the data transfer on the Arris I use now ?   I have not purchased the new one yet.  Any recommendations ?
