may i checked the checkbox to improve and optimize hard drive?

Well it says what it does on the info, not sure how much of a boost that will give your system.

does it ruin the hard drive if i checked the checkbox and defrag?
When you say ruin, do you mean damage the drive or ruin data so you can't recover it. Not sure on what you asking.
No it won't ruin your HDD but you are doing something which isn't actually necessary as it's automated within Windows.
People do love there defrag software.
