Full Version: Hosts file locations for Windows

Sometimes when malware get's on your computer you need to edit the hosts file afterwards, so that you can control access to websites and network traffic.

Here is the location you need:

Open this file location as an admin and use notepad to open and edit it.
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts


In the case you would like to use some software to manage it you can use the free HostsMan program.

not tested any of these so you may want to upload to virustotal and check them out first.
If you use Spybot and use the immunize feature fixing the host file is one of its features. Plus a bunch of other security problems that computers have it also plugs up

I have found a easy and good program to reset the Host file: NetAdapter Repair All In One

I think it's really useful to solve other network problems also  Big Grin
