Update doesn't work.  I have tried to manually start the service but have come up with an "Error 0x8007277a Service provider could not be localized or initialized"

The second one is the Weather gadget stopped working.  I've tried to delete it then re-add it but it still does not work.

I can't seem to figure these out.

I have Windows 7.

Hi BigJerr, Welcome to the forum.

First lets try and fix your Windows Update, Run the reset Windows Update Fix It in Default and Aggressive modes.

Thanks Brian. But it didn't work. Said that it couldn't detect the problem and something about the download.

Also, when I run the network trouble shooter I get an error that the DNS isn't working. I tried to manually start/restart it but nothing happened.

Go to Start menu and type cmd in the search bar. Right-click cmd and select Run as administrator. 

In Command Prompt:


Type: netsh winsock reset and hit Enter.
Type: netsh int ipv4 reset  and hit Enter.
Now try Windows Update.

The weather gadgets are working again! I'll reboot for the updates. See you on the other side!

Let me know if updates work after reboot.
