After trying to install a fresh install of windows 10 on an older windows 7 mini desktop PC I get the blue screen of "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart". Windows 10 installed then did the first reboot and instantly comes up with the error and I can't get past it to the setup stage. I have reset all the bios settings and Windows 7 was working on it no problem before so does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

It has:

Intel® Core™ i3-3240 CPU @ 3.40GHz
4GB DDR3 Fury HyperX Ram
Shuttle motherboard (can't see a model number)
It has an optical drive and a Dynamode Wireless PCI Card

Its a Shuttle Mini PC like this:

I would run your issue by Shuttle support.

I installed an SSD with a copy of Windows 10 on it and it booted just fine, so it has got to be something to do with the hard drive that's in it. It's a 500GB Seagate Barracuda.

The Hard drive was working perfectly fine on Windows 7 before I tried to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 on the same system?

Well there you go then. Sometimes those Hard drives do strange things when they start to go.
It would be better if we check the drive's health first with a program like CrystalDsikInfo. Download link - https://tinyurl.com/y88l2e7f

I have tried to do that step, but because I have already wiped windows 7 and installed windows 10 on the drive it won't boot on the computer it came from because of the problem. I tried connecting it to my PC with a SATA to USB cable but my computer doesn't recognise it and when I go to Disk Part to check if its there, it is but has a red X on it and when I try to initialise it I get an error.

So I'm trying to figure out other ways I can check the health of the Hard drive.
