if your getting a strange noise from your hard drive you should consider backing up your data while you can.

I would even take that a step further and recommend backing up immediately if your computer starts randomly crashing even if you don't hear any funny noise. With hard drives it's not if it's going to die.... It's when.

Yeah its always best to backup right away.
