I have a friend that has a laptop where the hard drive has failed. I told him to run chkdsk an discovered his hard drive has multiple errors. He wants to get the Windows 10 64bit product key from his computer but can't actually boot it up. Does anybody know of a command in command prompt you can use to extract his key? Does he actually need to extract it, or will windows 10 recognize the computer, IP address, etc, and activate his Windows 10 after he gets it installed on a brand new SSD?
windows 10 will reactivate once he installs windows 10 on the SSD

Ya. i had read that somewhere and since I own an actual (dvd) copy of Windows 10, I have never had to go through that problem. Thanks.
