The other day I had to fix an Acer Extensa 2511 laptop, the keyboard had tea spilled on it so it was spewing out random letters when a key was pressed.
I took it apart to assess the damage if any to the mono and other components, I really wanted to get access to the keyboard only however, not as easy or for that matter possible without melting plastic studs holding K/B and backing plate in place.
So the entire upper case palm rest + keyboard had to be removed and replaced.

Now searching around laptop parts companies, eBay, amazon and so forth provided 0 results, plenty for the 2511G but not the 2511 which is a different design.
Made a very interesting discovery, the Extensa 2511 is exactly the same as the Acer Aspire E15 (at least certain versions) so I ordered and fitted it, works a treat and as the customers son is autistic the customer was extremely happy  Smile

This isn't so much an issue of any kind I know but I figured it may help someone who ends up in the same boat, if it had been a bespoke machine I would've thought along these lines much earlier, but as it was all labelled Acer I just didn't think to take that route.

It just goes to show when it comes to laptops they're not to be feared as many people may tell you as much of the hardware can often be somewhat universal.

Hope this way of thinking helps someone in future.
I am sure it will help someone GS. I used to repair 100s of spillaged on laptops, very common issue.
