the panel on the back.  I plugged everything back in and now I can't get any sound.

I've tried these so far:

1)  Put earphones in the plug and still no sound.
2)  Took out and reinserted the cord.  However, just before I reinserted the plug I got that deep sound coming out of the speakers, but that's it.
3)  Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.
4)  Checked the Device Manager for the properties and saw that the device is working.

TIA.
Speaker cable or speaker port issue by the looks of it.
if you boot up Linux no sound its a hardware problem
i would boot up with Linux Lite without installation to see if you hear the sound

I did such using Linux - *barf* - and the sound works: at least on YouTube anyways.  Thx.

Also, yesterday I did update the audio drivers but they still don't work in W10.

f23948, thanks and did it but see above.

Before I forget.  In the sound settings - Control Panel - it says the speakers are not plugged in.  Hmmmmm.
well if you are getting sound in Linux from the speaker it's not hardware

it's software

what is the output device?
