I did a bit of online research and found out that you should turn off and unplug the pc, take out the GPU, reset bios, plug the monitor into the motherboard output, start the pc and go to the bios settings and change the primary graphics display to PEG, the bios have to be upgraded and then reset it several times until the GPU and monitor are connected again.
