Device manager/hard drive/Policy tab that allows you to check the box enable write caching is greyed out and the hard drive is a fixed hard drive so im not sure why this is happening
If it's grayed out then the SATA driver does not
support 'SCSI pass thru', so Windows cannot send
the right commands to the disk.
- Backup Data
- Check Hard Drive Health
- Change SATA cable
- Could be Hardware issue.
- Try Dskcache utility
You can use this utility Dskcache.exe
Obtain the Dskcache.exe tool to configure the "Power Protected" Write Cache option
How to enable Write Cache by command script:
c:\dskcache.exe +w
exit
Also you can add this script to startup scripts:
Start gpedit.msc and use
Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Scripts

Its greyed out due to an intel driver that takes over the policy option and the hard drive its self. I believe its called the intel matrix storage.
