Old dude 56, at the bottom i posted a link to a video of carey holzman that he and his niece are building a computer. At 56.00 minutes into the video they go step by step of performing a clean install (you dont have to skip the typing a key in if you have a key its up to you) but the video should help out a lot

OK thanks ,but I was not trying to do a fresh install of 7  I was doing an upgrade to replace any corrupt windows files and registry keys without losing anything I have

Windows XP install disc has a feature for repair which allows you to install a copy of windows over windows to replace any corrupt or missing files and registry keys
Windows 7  kinda does this via upgrade XP did not ask for validation number ( the 25 digit number) windows 7 when you do an upgrade will ask for the validation number which I already had because I used magical jellybean before I started and when I tried to use the number I had. I found that the number was not valid and after calling Microsoft I was told that the computer came with a temporary number that was supposed to be replaced by Microsoft with a permanent number the first time I connected to the internet and that sometimes the number is not replaced but Microsoft has no way of knowing which numbers are replaced and which are not as the temporary numbers are deleted from their data base after thirty days
So the only option I have at this time is to purchase another copy of windows and do an upgrade from that
but thanks for replying
If you have windows 10 then this video will show you how to do a repair upgrade of windows 10

I'm skeptical about these temporary and permanent numbers that you've been told about; Windows can either be in an activated or a non-activated state

Never  came across these "numbers" before; I am curious to know if it was really Microsoft that you spoke with
Are we still trying to fix flash player? or is this a new problem? if its a new problem please start another tread with the problem your receiving in the title

I believe you are right as this started out as my having problem with flash player it has evolved into problem with windows validation
So we will consider this done

If you are implying that maybe I was scammed I don`t think so as the number is part of the validation process if you input the wrong number you will be given the option of either re typing the number or contacting Microsoft either on-line or by phone with the number supplied

as this has evolved into a different problem from the original thread I have decided that this matter is done
Thanks for your reply
