That is just showing your Ethernet adapter speed capability, it's not your actual internet speed.
My internet speed is 171.85 download and 11.83 upload, 1 Gbps is just my adapters speed capability...
You can go to this site here and get a decent estimate of your internet speed, This is where I just got mine from... Funny thing is, our plan is for only 150 down and 10 up "that's weird" lol

wondering...maybe i can change my dns thingy...you know from open dns site listing workable dns connections. i dont have to keep using my isp's assigned connection. as for speed, i wont show the results...download at the moment is under 6mbps lmao

Yeah, you can do that... I don't know how much speed you'll gain, but worth a shot.
Open DNS is awesome if your ISP's router will let you change DNS settings, Mine won't...
They said I would have to get a business plan to do that.
yes, iam able to change dns. and ive added vpn to all my browsers, hope i wont have to use them. its less than 24 hours now from deadline!
A VPN will make no difference to net neutrality laws.
It all comes down to the Net Neutrality law. If access to all the VPN servers is blocked, they won't work but if the servers are not blocked, VPNs would work
With net neutrality gone isp's can theoretically charge for accessing certain content. You would have to pay weather you have a VPN or not.
With a vpn in place, just the link between the client and the VPN server would be known to the ISP; they wouldn't know about the sites accessed via the vpn server
what that basically means is that the user would be able to access just about any site via the vpn, for free and without any restrictions
Well I guess what I meant was that ISP's are going to give certain websites a fast lane that they will have to pay for no matter what. If the client who is accessing that sight is using a VPN that will not matter and won't make a difference..
It's actually the vpn server that would be accessing those sites for the client, and the vpn would then relay the received content over to the client
In this entire process, all that the ISP would know is that the client is connected to the vpn; they wouldn't know any further
