Hello i have an HP Pavillion pc with an ASUS IPIBL-LA motherboard with windows vista, i was told on here not to use windows 10 as it would take too much ram what is the best please.

That would depend on what you wanted from your computer (how do you use it?).
If you go the 8GB route make sure you download the 64bit version otherwise the extra RAM will be useless.

It should tell you what you need to know and what edition you can upgrade to.

If you run this program https://www.grc.com/securable.htm it will tell you what type of processer you have. (*note, sometimes with Vista you will have a x86 - x64 processer, this just means the CPU can run both.
