Hi Guys

I've searched the forum and not been able to answer this problem, so I hope it's okay to create another thread.

Old Samsung N130 Netbook, using 2gb ram. Running Windows 10 via the "free" Windows 10 rollout.

There are two windows updates waiting to be installed, but the install fails every time.

Here's what I've tried so far;
1) Run the troubleshooter programme as admin
2) Started in several different versions of safe mode
3) Run sfc /scannow as admin
4) Tried to manually delete the windows/software/downloads (might have the directory wrong, but you'll know what I mean)

I have also got the media creation tool ready to reinstall keeping my files, but I'm a little bit reluctant to try that just yet.

There is a minor secondary issue, which is worth mentioning that I've had a lot of the MS apps crashing and showing up in the event viewer. So, deleted them. The log stated they have failed due to the try version expiring. It's those ones that come with Win 10.

I'm not with the laptop at the moment, if necessary I can edit this post with the update numbers.

Thanks for reading.

is the update important or optional ?

Thanks for your reply. I can't remember exactly (not with the laptop), but I think one of them was a cumulative update.
I have witnessed this several times with Windows 10 on different computers. It is common for Windows Update to fail to install on some computers. When viewing Windows Update it tells you that it failed to install an update and states that it will try again later. Has to do with an incompatible update or something. I personally would not worry about it unless it is a device driver or something that is not working correctly.
Trouble is, every time I restart it, it takes about 20 mins to restart.
ok when you are back to the laptop give us pacific updates and updates number

Try running WSUS and see if that forces the updates to go through.
Adding to Timster's post, have a look at my tutorial, you can follow it step by step:
How to use WSUS Offline Update to Download Windows Updates Manually and Install them
Thanks, I will certainly give that a try.

Here's the two updates that won't install.

2017-05 Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x86-based Systems (KB3150513).

2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x86-based Systems (KB4019472).
