I got the free software ES File Explorer and was able to see my PC from the mobile. However I cannot see the phone from the PC. Is there a fix for this? Or should I use another app? TIA.

Hi Bri,

Android 5.1 Moto G. What else do you need?
I think there is 3 gens for that phone.

You will need to Enable WiFi Hotspot on your Moto G Phone.

  1. Go to Settings > More >Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
  2. Make sure Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot is enable WiFi Hotspot.
  3. Now Setup Wi-Fi Hotspot settings.
  4. Enter Network SSID, Security Type and Password according to your network settings.
  5. Now save your settings.
  6. Now go to your computer, navigate to Wireless Network via Control Panel
  7. Click on Connect button on wireless network connection tab.

Thanks Brian. The only problem is - in the US ' is you have to use the AT&T service in which there is a limited amount of WiFi usage per month. Above that they charge.

Are you connecting to your phone through your local home wifi network? If so, connecting through your local home network doesn't use up your AT&T data. The only time you would be using AT&T data is if you wanted to connect the PC and Phone away from your Home Network...
- When you are using your in home network (WiFi Connection), you are connecting straight through your router.
- When your away from your home network, your Phone will have to use the AT&T data to connect to the internet...then to your PC.

((If you're using a pre-paid air card "Disregard everything I just said)) in that case...you would be using your AT&T data.

Hope that this makes sense...

Yes, it's through a wireless modem.
Hey have you try Universal Windows Platform, it's specific for W10 and provides a common app platform available on every device that runs W10. You can use it to connect your PC to phone, to laptop and vice versa. It's worth a thought! It's right on Microsoft website: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/get-started/universal-application-platform-guide
