Full Version: Windows 10 says internal hard drive is external

hello after i install a new ssd 850 evo in windows 10 the system says that internal hard drive is external  
before i install the ssd i enable ahci mode in bios

i have 1 ssd and 3 mechanical disk
Hello diazz123 and welcome to the forums. What you are showing there looks normal to me. I have seen this before with Windows 10. I do not think that this will affect your performance in any sort of way. I also see a WD drive there shown as external.

What happens if the mode is changed to IDE?

What happens if the mode is changed to IDE?

if a change to ide the problem disappears but i must format the disk again i found this solution https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3083627/internal-sata-drives-show-up-as-removeable-media

but it's only works for 1 drive
Hi diazz123,

If I was you, I would leave your SSD in AHCI Mode!

I have the SSD 850 EVO as well and I have set it up as ahci and installed windows on with no problems! If your system is working fine and the performance is very fast, then I would leave it as AHCI.
