Hi guys,

So here is story:

I was working on a system, which need a clean install of 8.1. So I performed a clean install of windows 8.1, installed drivers and then I clicked check for updates, so I could install the latest updates. But it seems after countless hours it is stuck at checking for updates.

Here is what I did:
  • Downloaded a fresh ISO from the media creation tool (Didn't work)
  • Try my lucky USB which I recently used to installed Windows 10 on my personal computer and haven't had a problem since (Didn't work)
  • Downloaded a different ISO from different legal website. Currently Testing but so far nothing
  • Followed the steps from Brian's latest video, which is very helpful, good job Brian  Wink (Didn't Work)
  • Tried to use WSUS Offline Update (Didn't work, a bit surprised)
  • I am currently testing ssd and hdd to make sure they are in good health

Any help on this investigation would be most grateful! It is a mystery? Also I used virtualbox to test the ISOs

    Thanks

When did you download the ISO? is it the latest ISO? by using the Windows Media Creation Tool, this will give you the latest Windows 8.1 with all the latest updates.

Yes I did download the latest windows 8.1 iso yesterday. I think the media creation gave me a corrupt ISO. I am not sure if I should download from there.
did you run a sfc /scannow scan?

yes! No corrupt files, which is strange really?
what did it say?
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
