Can anyone tell me what files "Amd64\EP0NOE8C.DXT" and "cryptdlg.dll.mui" are and what they do. sfc scannow reports these files as corrupt and unable to fix them. I cannot find "Amd64\EP0NOE8C.DXT" on my computer but there are a couple of instances of "cryptdlg.dll.mui"
I have searched the internet but I cannot find any reliable information on them. I do not have any errors reports in relation to the corrupted files so I do not know how they affect the computer.

I am still asking the question 2 years on because I still have the same problem. I thought that I had identified the problem but it appears I was wrong.
The only problem I am aware of is that I cannot run a sfc /scannow now without it throwing up the same results re corrupt files.

Yes, I have been considering doing a repair install. I have your video and the link you provided to the Windows site with further information. I am not very good with computer issues and I do not want to make a mess out of what is not a major problem, but is niggling me. I suspect/believe that either HP prepared my computer for installing Vista or Comet where I bought it did an upgrade to Windows 7. I don't know if that will make any difference. I am not worried about loosing data as I am well backed up.

I have only just noticed the CBS log indicates that there are a number of files which appear not to be of the version of the Windows 7 I have installed on my computer ie 6.1.7601. Would this make any difference to a repair install? Thanks

Can I take it then that 'Version = 6.1.7600' is just an earlier version of Windows 7? The version on my computer is '6.1.7601' or am I missing the point?
