i tried, it gives me error in powershell i think you gave me wrong link
  • 1.Type Powershell in search and right-click Powershell with Run as administrator
  • 2.Type: Get-AppxPackage –AllUsers
  • 3.Click on PowerShell logo and click Edit, click Find, now type Photos
  • 4.Locate the Microsoft.Windows.Photos entry
         5.Type the command: remove-AppxPackage PackageFullName replace PackageFullName with your 
  • Microsoft.Windows.Photos entry (example below)

First, open PowerShell as administrator. Open the Start menu, search for “PowerShell,” right-click the PowerShell shortcut, and select “Run as administrator.”

Copy and paste the following command, and press enter

Get-AppxPackage *photos* | Remove-AppxPackage
i did ran as administrator attempted delete photos app and it's still there in start screen
I posted a link to uninstall photo app in windows 8 because your in windows 8 forum. But you are running windows 10.
I'm running windows 10 and all I have to do to uninstall the photo app is left click the app under setting and it gives me the option to uninstall. You don't have that option Jon Gilbert? I Take this back I have the option but it is grayed out.

Jon Gilbert did you try the link that I provided you? I ask because I would like to know everything that as been tried, that way we can come up with different things to try.

It's my bad. I thought you had Windows 10.

It looks like there is no way to remove the photos app in Windows 8.1, as advised by an MVP on the following page

If you like, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free, and remove the photos app. Microsoft still offers free upgrades to those who may use assistive technologies
