Over clocking sounds great but in the long run it makes the life of your cpu get tired out quicker which means one day when you turn on your computer you wont have one also when it comes to 3rd party coolers if you dont keep up on keeping the inside of the case clean the dust builds up in the vent for the cooler which makes your cpu overheat which means no computer until you replace the cooler . Cpu upgrade is the better way to go as long as you know what socket your motherboard supports. But if you dont keep the dust out you should probably just throw the computer out is what i stick with
Overclocking is not for everyone, I myself like to overclock and see great performance boost which some people could only dream of by not overclocking. Yes it will have some sort of wear and tear on the hardware if you overclock to the max, but a mild overclock should be OK if you follow the rules of overclocking.
