Hello,
Let me prepuces this by saying that my system is clean and I am for the most part computer literate.
I am running into an issue that I cannot seem to find any sort of resolution for. Whenever I right click on a drive, say C, under the windows explore menu, I get a windows error message stating that windows explorer has stopped responding and must restart. This effectively keeps me from using my right click menu on any drive or folder in those drives. I can access the drive and any folder, I just cannot right click on any of them. Right click works everywhere else so I think the issue with the shell extension menu itself.
I have done the following. Ran Hijack this, Malwarebytes, Essentials, Avast, Spybot, ccleaner, and all have come up clean with no issues. I have gone into the registry and edited the shell menu removing WinRar folder as directed by fix video on youtube. https://youtu.be/H-TVDF6I2lk Again no success.
I have ran sfc /scannow and a memory check. Both have come up clean with no issues. Although sometimes after running SFC /Scannow the issue resolves for a short time.
This is a new issue that just creeped in a few months back and has become systemic now. That means everything runs fine after start or reboot but then shortly thereafter issue comes back.
I am only running essential start up programs, Malwarebytes, spybot, dropbox, power management for my ups, and windows essentials, and my Nvidia display drivers. All other programs have been disabled.
Any thoughts or suggestions on resolving the issue would be greatly appreciated. As always thank you for any help.
