Please run the following command in an elevated command prompt

CHKDSK I:/R

It will scan for logical file system errors in the disk and try repairing them. It will also look for physical disk errors and mark them.

Be patient while the scan is in process. It may take a while and the progress of the scan may appear to be stuck in some cases, but be patient and let it complete.

By the way, have you created any other folder in that drive and tried deleting that? ... and what happens if you try deleting a file instead?
Drive could be failing or getting bad sectors

Things to consider:
  • Do you know your drive is failing?
  • Once drive is starting to fail your playing Russian roulette with your data, because the drive can fail at anytime and you will lose it all.
  • Backup data and buy a new hard drive.
  • Scan to see if drive is bad.
Its important to mention that putting stress of drive means the drive can fail at anytime, so its advisable to backup data first before testing. If you know drive is bad and you choose to use the drive, you run the risk at losing you data at anytime due to hard drive failure.

On the other had the drive may not be bad and may be fixable, just wanted you to know whats could be happening.

The choice is your.

Scan drive to see if its bad? or do you know already?
