the MTB logs show that your internet is working
Like Compton said, MTB log is saying your internet is working correctly.
Since IE6 was so flakey I went to
https://dl.google.com/chrome/install/154.48/chrome_installer.exe
and downloaded the Chrome installer standalone, installed Chrome, and now I have Internet access.
Then using Chrome went to
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=20
and downloaded two files:
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor
Update for Windows XP (KB932823) (which I believe updates the net framework)
Ran the
Update for Windows XP (KB932823) first then the
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
Learned I could upgrade this computer to Win7!
For now, that's all I really wanted to learn and do.
Next I'll install Win7 and hope things go more smoothly.
