hi, i have been following this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxepmtjmilQ.

I have run into an issue with the booting from usb stick as when I select it to boot from this I get the message "Reboot and select proper boot device".
It means you're not selecting the right hard drive on boot up. You can change this in BIOS.
But I have selected the usb sandisk as the boot up and have tried the UEFI as well and it still doesn't load
how many hard drive do you have install 1 or 2

you are trying to boot from a usb not hard drive
I have one hard rive which is the one using windows 10 currently, I am trying to boot the ISO image file on my USB stick which contains Linux mint which I am trying to install.
The boot option 1 is clearly set to usb SanDisk. Also, if the usb stick is not in the computer when it restarts it just loads to my desktop.

you have to add Linux in to the boot loader

Does the usb memory card need to be formatted in a specific way to enable it to be booted from?
yes if you are installing windows you need it to be Ntfs

but this program will do everything for you
