If my hard drive suddenly becomes raw and windows says it needs to be formatted what can i do.The Hdd is not damaged, there are no ticking noises and it is not accessible.? Its a Seagate 1TB External Hdd.
well you first need to establish if the HDD is in good health before doing anything else

Yeah its good in health ive used crystal disk info to check before i started to think of a plan to recover the data.? i know if its a bad hdd and i keep using the drive it will become dead. im a couple of steps ahead i just need to know how to get it back to normal.?
My possible ideas of fixing the raw hdd
fixing the disk structure
Assigning a new drive letter
my last resort using test disk then chkdsk
any other options.?
ok I would chkdsk if that don,t work
boot Linux to see if you can get access to the data
