Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L645 that someone gave to me. It's running Win 7 Home edition. The webcam was not working and after several driver downloads from the Toshiba website, and pop up messages that it could not start the camera, and no image device was seen in the device manager, I then opened the screen to see if any cables were loose/disconnected. I then cleaned dust from the fan and after assembling the computer, I am getting 7 beep codes when I start the computer and a black screen. Unfortunately I don't have a manual or can find one on the internet. There is power on the motherboard (AC power and battery lights are both strong) and fan is working. Tried holding down F2 and 0 while powering on, and removed one ram to no avail. I can also hear the hd. Any help is welcomed.
Do you have any known good RAM to try? Try swapping the RAM you have already. Also try swapping RAM slots.
If you have a Pheonix BIOS the 7 beeps points to RAM
BIOS Beep Codes List
you most likely damage the memory because of anti static
did you open laptop on carpet ? you should only open it on a wooden flooring and a wooden table
if you don,t have wooden flooring and only carpet
then you should get a anti static mats
Anti-Static Mat

Thanks Compton. I am using the portable ESD mat from ifixit. I am working on a carpet floor, but I have placed two unused wooden cutting boards to work on. My mistake I think is I placed the Rams in those small multi-purpose resealable bags.

example:
- 7 beeps could be 7 continuous beeps.
- 3 short 4 long
What bios are you running on that machine?
AMI BIOS beep codes
Award BIOS beep codes
Dell beep codes
IBM BIOS beep codes
Macintosh startup tones
Phoenix BIOS beep codes

Thanks to all of you for your helpful information. After reseating and swapping the original rams and reseating hard drive etc,the laptop is up and running well;however, the camera still is not functioning, so I will invest in an external one Do you have any videos on fixing a gpu with a rework station? I have a Dell Inspiron M5010 that I want to try this new hobby.
Thanks again
