Just asking a simple question what is the most common error you get in the shop.? I have got over 3 years worth of experience in a local run Community run shop but the one thing I see all the time is blue screens that turn's out to be overheating as it's blocked up with dust.? Also can you run just one stick of ram from a dual pair as I was getting blue screen crash when i plug in the one stick it had a 4GB pair (2x2GB) but then a one stick from a 4GB pair so just a single 2GB i was thinking it would still work.?
Yes, its always best to test one stick at a time. A lot of BSOD are related to driver issues or corruption. Its not always hardware related.
The system I was working on was a alienware with a intel i7 water cooled turns out the radiator was block up with dust cleaned it then test with valley 10 for a good 2 hours no blue screen plus cpu did not go above 10c in prime95. The shop don't see many alienware they are cool the way you can set all the led to change colour with temp set to green then amber then red being 10c. So my conclusion was the i7 was overheating causing one of the driver to blue screen.

In my shop things always seem to come in waves. One week it's lots of screen repairs, another week lots of virus jobs come through, another week broken hinges, another week power jacks.... really strange. I could go a month without a desktop computer come through and then in one week my shop will be full of them  Huh
that is so true tim it's like a subconscious connection between people very strange.

I have not worked in a PC Store for about two years now but I would have to say the most common issues I had come across where NO POST and HDD Failure.

In my current position as ICT Tech Support at a school the most common issue I come across would be no login service, which I have recently found out is due to the Symantec endpoint protection firewall.
