This tutorial will show you how to stop all those annoying toolbars and PUPs from installing when you install a new application. I have been using this app for over 2 years now and I must say it does a sterling job, sometimes, I forget to look carefully when installing a new programme and Unchecky will prompt me that I'm about to install unwanted apps.

Here's what to do:

1. Download Unchecky from here.

2. Find where you downloaded it to and run the programme. I downloaded mine to 'Downloads' Folder

3. Say yes to the Windows User Account Control. At this point some Antivirus or Firewall software may give you warnings, allow Unchecky to proceed by 'allowing' it or by adding to the exclusion list. Now click on the Install button.

4. Unchecky will only take a few seconds to install. Now click on the finish button.

5. Unchecky is now protecting you against unwanted crapware, to see what it has blocked to date and for settings, find the Unchecky icon in the taskbar and click on it.

As you will now see, Unchecky will confirm that the service is up and running, but most importantly, it will also show you how many 'ticks' it's unticked for you during your installations. You can get a more detailed view of what's been blocked by clicking on 'Activity Log' button.

6. Once the window opens, you will be able to see information about what was blocked, when, and how many 'offers' you were automatically opted out of. This feature is really good because all the 'Free' software maker's are finding new ways of trying to trick you into installing bloatware. In fact, at times, Unchecky had already done its job in the background, and I have clicked on something which I believed was part of the 'normal' setup and Unchecky warned me that I was about to install something I shouldn't!

This has been a real Godsend for me, especially when I've been testing software in a hurry Smile

Unchecky will start with Windows automatically, it doesn't drain your PC or hinder its performance in any way, it's very light.
