WIndows 7 hangs up at the Welcome screen
#1
Good Day everyone,

I have a windows 7 machine that gets stuck after you enter the logon password the little circle keeps turning endlessly.  I have tried to boot into safe mode that does exactly the same thing.  On one boot-up I got to a black screen with a moving cursor.  Now back to welcome screen that keeps turning.  I have tried the windows repair disk and last know good configuration as well as restore to a previous time.  None worked and now all of the restore points are gone.  I have tried kasperky's rescue disk but it hangs after you enter 1 on the load up screen.  There are numerous programs and files on this computer that are needed and really would not like to do a clean install if at all possible.

If anyone can provide some assistance I would greatly appreciate it.

I have searched google and videos but still no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike

Is this a laptop or desktop?

Were windows updates going through before you saw this issue?

Good Morning,

It is a laptop and no updates were going. The computer was off for the night and brought back up in the morning and this crazy welcome screen.

Ok Eset SysRescue did not find anything.. I did a chkdsk /r would not produce a log when it finished. I am on the desktop now, however the network card will not connect to the internet. When I try to troubleshoot I get the error message "Scripted Diagnostics Native Host Has Stopped Working".

started the computer with Selective start-up and only microsoft services. Internet connection worked if I launched a site in explorer but not in IE or chrome or firefox. Rebooted then no internet connection.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Cause This issue occurs because of a deadlock in the Gpprefcl.dll file, the client implementation for group policy preferences (GPP). There is a conflict of the sequence when initializting the shell that GPP is doiing to get the shell folders.

  1. Do you have this hotfix installed?
Fix Windows 7, stop responding at the Welcome screen after you enter the user credentials to log on to the computer
  2. Windows 7 Startup Repair
  3. Try a Clean Boot
