Hi folks, I have a computer that I gave my grandkids with Win7 on it. They are standard users, I am the admin. Is there anyway that the kids can install games from cd/dvd or software without me having to give up my password?

You could setup a group policy to allow user to install software and then restrict what you want.
Standard user can only do tasks that don't require administrator rights.
Local Group Policy in Windows:
1. Press Windows Logo + R on your keyboard and then type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter.
2. Now, under User Configuration, expand the Administrative Templates
and expand Windows Components scroll down and click Windows Installer.
/User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Installer
3. Change to Enable Windows Installer
4. Apply that setting.

Hi folks, just thought that I'd update what we have done. I went over to the grandkids place & talked with the oldest one & then talked with the parents. I explained the importance of being careful of what you download & where you download from, free stuff costs money, and a bunch of other things until his eyes were about to glaze over. In the end it was decided that the boys would stay as standard users and the parents would be Administrators, having a final say of what was being done on the computer. The parents are going to learn about Parental Control & how to use them & I get to continue pumping them full of sugar & love. Thank you to all who helped me out on this.
