Crypto wall
#1
hi,

I have a hard drive that was infected and encrypted by the Cryptowall virus. Is there a way to unencrypt the files without paying the ransom?

a simple answer is no..

if it was me, i would NOT pay the ransom.. instead, i would simply reformat the harddrive..

you need to have your files backed up, so that they can be restored, if needed..

you can try to prevent another malware-infection by trying to make your computer secure against them..

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

I am unsuccessful. It looks like the computer never had any shadow copies or it had been overwritten before I got it.

I have 2 customers now get hit Cryptowall. Both tried to fix it first before sending it my way.
