called Microsoft. When I opened the window for telephone activation, it would not accept entries in the appropriate box. finally given up, restored from system image 11/4/14. still has corrupt file sfc /scannow cannot fix, but it's genuine windows 7 and everything used works. Thanks for your assistance even though we couldn't solve the issue.

Looks like your system image was also corrupt. Its always good idea to verify new system image once complete, this will let you know if you have a non corrupt system image.

Tried repair install which fixed corrupt file issues, however, windows not genuine issue remained unresolved. tried every activation angle including telephone. Couldn't activate by telephone because the code box would not accept code. Restored system with system image. Fixed problem by replacing corrupt folder/files. Ran SFCfix.exe and SFCfix.zip by Nimero sysnative.com which provided location of corrupt folder/files. Ran TakeOwnership.reg and deleted the corrupt files. Opened Win7 installation disk with 7-zip. Located the folder/files and pasted them in correct folder. Ran sfc /scannow no integrity violations. All is now well. Hope this information will assist others with sfc /scannow file corruption issues.
