[Solved] the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error
#21
i followed steps one through ten and still didnt work, that was acually the second time i tried that. i watched the first video and it doesnt let me install the windows update standalone installer. gives me a error code 0xc8000247. the second part as well it doesnt let me run the trouble shooter. it says a problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting. im currently trying the stuff on the second video

i tried the second video as well. nothing worked i even tried the tweaking thing. very frustrated at the moment haha been at this all day. id call microsoft but they charge $100 before they help. theres a video on youtube where the guy downloaded a new rapid driver. but he has a different computer than mine so i didnt try that. im on a gateway desktop/acer now i guess since acer bought out gateway i beleive.

still didnt work. the third one is strange though. i run the fix it and it says it finds the errors and says it fixes them but it still doesnt update. it like giving me false hope. im gonna try and do the third one manually see if that help/works. do you think i should just try and re-install the recovery discs? or do you have any more ideas on what to do? because iv tried youtube, google, trying to find a solution and nothing. you're my last hope.

ok when i go and do this part manually https://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 im hit with some messages. the first is when i enter the net stop appidscv i get a message saying "the application identity service is not started". then when i get to the 6th part entering the regsvr32.exe 15 of them give me this message "The module 'mshtml.dll" was loaded but the entry point dll register was not found. makeshure that mshtml.dll is a valid dll or ocx file and then try again".

i finally got it working. it turns out i had to download a irrt from hp. that let me start doing the updates but some of the updates failed so i had to call microsft and luckily they didnt charge me to fix it. this was so freaking ridicoulus of a fix. right now the desktop is still downloading updates. but at least its downloading. iwas on the phone with microsoft for 2 hrs before they even figured out to download the irrt. thanks for your help though britec. this nightmare is now over, hopefully when i get to work tomorrow the downloads installed and there arnt any errors. il be back on in 10 hrs to let you know if everything is good. thanks again
