Security Breach - sikochikn - 03-06-2015

Good Day everyone.About a month ago I reformatted my computer from windows 7 to 8.1 everything has been operating smoothly and in tip top shape. On my windows 7 I had a serious bout with MS-046 & CVE-2568 so suffering from paranoia I keep a close eye on everything.I do a lot of buying & selling on ebay, and a few others, have a paypal account that is linked to my bank so I keep a close eye on the security settings as well.In the past 24 hours on all of my sites that contain case sensitive information The secure green padlocks have given away to gray warning signs and gray globes, I haven't done anything out of the ordinary (this pc is used for the buying and selling purposes only, no socializing sites or other nonsense strictly business) I've checked certificates, files, deleted and reinstalled sites with the https preceeding, run full system scans with anti-virus,among other things and nothing has changed.I was told not to be alarmed it was not that big of a deal the padlocks and globes change back and forth from time to time but I need a second opinion. Thanks siko.

If your that paranoid use one of these:
  • Boot into a live Linux CD (example puppy Linux)
  • Install Linux in a virtualbox (just use for banking)
  • Malware cant run in Live CD.
  • Virtualbox is easier to setup and use and as long as you only use it for you bank page your be fine, just be careful what you install on the virtualbox and keep it updated.

Yea get yourself a copy of TAILS if you're as paranoid as you say you are ; https://tails.boum.org/

I'm not THAT paranoid,I just like to keep system in best shape possible, I also like for my sensitive transactions to be safe from prying eyes. They keep saying these well known sites have not been verified and connection not encrypted, is this something to be on alert about?

Thank You for your advice I will give it a try and thank you for your help also Compton.

That is one of my concerns they have all of the sudden stopped adding the http. I normally click on from my bookmarks bar but i've noticed that hasn't been included.
